The Basics
Using Images
To place an image on your page, use <img src="filename">

To link with an image, use
<A HREF="link.html"><img src="Image" border=0 width= height=></a>
Adding the border=0 removes the border around a linking image.

Adding Backgrounds
For a regular colored backgrounds, add BGCOLOR="#000000" to the <BODY> tag.

To use an image background, add BACKGROUND="filename" to the <BODY> tag.

Hexadecimal Colors
Sometimes, you will see this used, BGCOLOR="#000000".
The part in red is called the hexadecimal coloring system.
It defines the color to be used using numbers 0-9 and the letters A-F.
I have added a chart of the 216 'Web Safe' colors.
The web safe colors are the colors that display identically cross-platform at 8 or 32 bit color without dithering.
